Easy Runs are not a form of torture induced by coaches. These slower paced runs have a purpose! I hope this post helps you see the benefits from a physiological perspective. Slowing down will help your body adapt in many ways and help you on race day. Does that mean you always have to run easy? No. The frequency of easy runs is based on where you are in your training program, your experience level, injury status and the like.
