“Going to the gym for five minutes may not improve your performance, but it reaffirms your identity.” That is the rest of the statement in Atomic habits and I think this rings true for runners too.
Some days we do not feel like getting on the treadmill, going outside into the heat and humidity or waking up early to go run, but we are still runners. You may have a hard or long workout on your schedule that your mind is trying to talk you out of, but even if you start with 1-2 intervals that is better than nothing.
Now of course if you are dealing with an injury or signs of an illness…that’s a different story, but if it’s just because your alarm went off at 4:30 and you really just want to roll over in bed, remember you are a runner and even a little workout is better than just laying in bed. You always feel better after you get out and get the workout finished don’t you vs kicking yourself for staying in bed an extra hour?
Just a reminder that running is fun! Running challenges us both mentally and physically! Running somehow makes us better human beings, so don’t miss out on its amazing powers! 🙂
Keep living that run life, one mile at a time!
