Let’s Talk About Warming Up Before Your Run

One of the first things I notice when working with runners is this: they walk out the front door (or hop out of the car), press start on their watch… and just take off running.  Sound familiar?

In my opinion — this could be better. If you’re not warming up at all right now, start small. And start with something you’ll actually do.

It doesn’t have to be fancy.

✨ Option one: Take a 5–10 minute walk. Yep, just walk. I know, I know — it adds time to your run and that can be frustrating. But your body will seriously thank you.

✨ Option two: A dynamic warm-up (think: leg swings, skips, high knees, etc). These are great, but if you’re newer to running or working through some weakness, they might feel exhausting before you even start.

So ease in.Don’t feel like you need to overhaul your routine overnight. Add things in slowly and give your body time to adjust.

If you're feeling stuck or have questions about your running routine — whether it's form, training, or just where to start — I’m here for you.

Let’s keep living that run life, one mile at a time.
