Runners, is Your Hip Flexor Bugging You?
I remember my right hip flexor just freezing up on me at mile 9 of the Houston Warm Up 1/2 last year…I should have been doing this exercise.
This is a great exercise if you are dealing with a hip flexor weakness or a hip flexor tendon issue.
Let me know how it goes for you!
Compensations: don’t take your leg out to the side or have your foot rotate in or out too much as you do this. Don’t lean back too far. If it's too easy, you are probably using a compensation.
That being said, there can be other issues such as hip range of motion, glute strength or motor control deficits which can lead to anterior or front of the hip pain, so make sure you consult a PT, Chiro or ortho if pain continues.
Keep living that run life, one mile at a time!
